Rant of the day...

Well what can I say... been doing battle with the UK banking system again.
London is the financial hub of Europe apparently... well I can see why they in the pooh then!!
Due to buying a cheaper boat than intended we have some money to invest and do you think we can get anyone to take it. Boy, if only the exchange rate was better we would send it all back to NZ (interest on invested money here lucky to be 4%) but as it is we have to go through a myriad of questions and provide endless copies of ID before we usually get told that as we don't live in a house with a fixed position in the universe and have 6 months of utilities bills they can't help us anyway.
Along the way something has now red flagged me and I am like treated like "The Jackel" and have to turn up everywhere in person to prove I am a person! They all blame the prevalence of money laundering and fraud but blowed if I can work out how you would cheat a system that doesn't seem to have a system!!
So far we have heard stories of a six month old baby having its account closed for fraud, a woman with no credit rating or bank account as they won't tell her what the problem is with her account details but they happily shut it (something we have encountered - how can you fix a problem if they wont tell you what the problem is???!) and a case of "you answered the security questions too quickly. You will have to ring back". This is after the person had been on the phone for hours being passed around various departments having to answer the same security questions each time!! Classic!
Anyway having pissed off many banks (Murray loves a good rant on the phone and making a formal complaints about tedious security measures etc) we have finally spread our love among a few banking instituations... you never know when the little buggers might fall over!!
